Tottenham’s relationship with Atletico Madrid could see them sign two stars

Tottenham and Atlético Madrid have made two deals recently and their good relationship could benefit the Premier League club soon, according to a report in Spain.

On deadline day, the Spurs terminated right-back Matt Doherty’s contract to facilitate his move to Real Madrid and which followed a deal over the summer whereby Tottenham loaned left-back Sergio Reguilón to Atlético, to help them fill the void left by Renan Lodi’s departure to nottingham forest.

The two clubs also worked together for the transfer of Kieran Trippier to Spain in 2019, a deal that resulted in Simeone’s team winning La Liga that year.

Now, Marca reports that Atlético could repay the goodwill by potentially sending one or more of their stars in the opposite direction to London via nearby transfer windows.

The two stars that could sign are Yannick Carrasco and Jan Oblak, since both are necessary for Tottenham.

With a year left on his contract with Atlético, Barcelona have negotiated a ‘preferential but non-mandatory purchase option’ for Carrasco, but with Spurs’ financial power over the Catalan side at present, the report states it could fall in favor of the Premier League club.

This summer, Tottenham will be looking to replace the error-prone Hugo Lloris, and Jan Oblak could be an option to take over.

The Slovenian goalkeeper is one of the best goalkeepers in world football in his day and his capture would be a great signing for the north London club.
