Tottenham could see deal for number one target called off

Tottenham’s search for Pedro Porro from Sporting Lisbon could be in danger of failing with clubs struggling to agree a payment structure for the deal.

That’s according to the Daily Mail, which reports that the way in which the alleged £39.7m fee (the player’s release clause) is to be paid has caused problems during Porro’s talks.

Spurs had previously been turned down a £32.5m offer for the right-back, but talks resumed this week over a revised pay-plus-bonus structure and a potential player in return, according to the report.

Sporting have not facilitated talks for Spurs and the Premier League club are said to be increasingly frustrated with the Portuguese club stalling on a deal for the defender.

Tottenham have been in talks for Porro all this week and Fabrizio Romano said on Thursday that the deal was very close to completion with only the payment structure to be decided.

That final detail is now causing Tottenham a lot of problems and they may have to accept whatever Sporting want on the matter or risk the deal failing.
