Serious injury “cooled down” Manchester United’s interest in €70m Brazilian striker – Man United News And Transfer News

Manchester United scaled back their efforts to sign Porto striker Evanilson after the player suffered a serious injury.

Over the summer, the 20-time English champions were mentioned among potential suitors for Evanilson.

There was much speculation that United made an offer of €60m + €5m in bonuses for the player, which Porto flatly rejected.

A determined United were preparing a higher offer, according to SportWitness.

Correio da Manhã via SportWitness says: “With the striker having a knee injury that sidelined him, that cooled the persecution of the clubs that wanted him.”

“Porto turned down an offer of 60 million euros for him in the summer, and that news spoke of Manchester United preparing to put 70 million euros on the table.”

“All the interested clubs seem to have backed off their interest, and Porto now fear that this injury will even stop a big move next summer.”

If true, United is unlikely to consider a deal for Evanilson again.

There remains a need for a world-class striker at Old Trafford, although Erik ten Hag now has his eyes on other targets.

Names on the club’s transfer wish list include Harry Kane, Victor Osimhen and Benjamin Sesko.

These three forwards are better than Evanilson and would provide an instant upgrade over Anthony Martial and Wout Weghorst.

Kane is looking forward to signing a new contract with Tottenham as the final year of his deal with the north London club approaches. He is also said to be open to a move to Old Trafford.

United understand that a deal for Osimhen is not easy and that the Nigerian would command a gigantic fee. There is also competition from Real Madrid for their services.
