Former Premier League manager is Everton’s number one target to replace Frank Lampard

Former Leeds manager Marcelo Bielsa is Everton’s number one target after Frank Lampard was sacked.

The writing has been on the wall for Lampard for some time now. Losing twice in one week to struggling Bournemouth, followed by a string of home defeats to Wolves, Leicester, Brighton and Southampton, meant Lampard’s sacking was arguably a bit overdue.

The Daily Mail has confirmed that Lampard has been sacked by Everton pending an official announcement and former Leeds manager Bielsa is now his number one target to take the reins.

Bielsa’s intense style would no doubt drive Everton’s players to improve their performance on and off the ball. The Argentine demands a lot from his players and we have seen plenty of mediocre performances from this current Everton squad.

Whether Everton’s current crop of players would be able to cope with Bielsa’s demands is another story and Everton’s denizens are understandably dubious that they have the team to accommodate Bielsa’s demands.

Players like Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Yerry Mina are already prone to injury, so Bielsa’s intense training sessions can make it difficult for them.
