Liverpool boss ‘gutted’ after game postponed ‘seven minutes’ after kick-off

Liverpool Women experienced a frustrating weekend against Chelsea as their match was postponed with a pitch frozen after just ‘seven minutes’ of action and many fans traveled from Merseyside for the match.

Speaking to BBC Sport, manager Matt Beard said: “I don’t know why it took six [or] seven minutes for us to find out it was frozen. I was freezing this morning [and] froze on heating. You can see clearly on this side [and] on the penalty bench.

“I am devastated by our fans, because they have left at five in the morning to go down.”

It’s obviously upsetting for the players and the coaches, but to see this understanding of the turmoil the fans went through also shows true understanding and appreciation from the 45-year-old.

Let’s just hope they’re not left again in a position where fans have traveled across the country, only to be let down at the last minute by a decision that could have been made the night before.
