John Terry joins Chelsea fans in away end against Liverpool

Former Chelsea defender and captain John Terry joined the visiting fans at Anfield as Liverpool hosted the Blues on Saturday afternoon in the goalless Premier League.

The 42-year-old appeared to enjoy his time in the crowd and joined the club’s fans in singing a chant about him winning the double and mocking Tottenham Hotspur. The former English captain posed for photos with the Chelsea fans and then shared his experience on his Instagram profile.

Terry captioned his post by saying:

“I loved being on the other end with our fans today. As a player, you arrive by bus and go directly to the dressing room, you can’t see or feel what the fans are feeling.

When I retired, I always wanted to be on the other end with our fans and today I loved it. Many thanks to our fans who travel the world supporting our great club.”

Mafia fan club legend

Several videos have surfaced on social media showing Terry being harassed by Blues fans and he even retweeted the video saying: “Chelsea out. What a day and what a great experience to be in the distance finale with our fans.”

Terry took over as assistant manager at Aston Villa after his retirement when he joined Dean Smith’s coaching staff, but stepped down in the summer of 2021.

However, the former central defender did not enjoy an enthralling game with both teams picking up a point.

Mudryk is coming

New Chelsea signing Mykahilo Mudryk came off the bench for an impressive cameo appearance, but how manager Graham Potter motivates his teams in the second half of the season remains to be seen.

Chelsea have only one of their last five league games and currently sit 10th in the standings with 29 points from 20 games, 10 points behind Newcastle United for a Champions League spot. Liverpool is one place ahead with the same points having played one game less.
