Juventus could face additional fines and suspensions in Europe

Just when you think the club has hit rock bottom, there always seems to be an added twist to Juve’s dying soap opera.

On Friday, the sports court awarded the club a 15-point deduction in the Serie A table with immediate effect, in what can only be described as a major, if not fatal, blow to our Champions League aspirations.

However, missing out on next season’s UCL edition may just be the start, as a recent report suggests.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport via JuventusNews24, the club could face additional headaches in relation to the salary maneuver case, which could affect its settlement with UEFA.

In the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic, management had allegedly reached an agreement with the players without recording it on the balance sheet. The players were said to have agreed to forgo four months’ salary, but it appears they had only given up one month’s salary.

This problem could jeopardize the conciliation agreement signed with UEFA last year. The bianconeri had agreed to pay 2.3 million euros as a fine in addition to some restrictions related to the market, as long as they respect the rules of the Financial Fair Play.

However, recent revelations about wage maneuvering could see the fine rise to 23 million and also trigger a one-year European ban between 2024/25 and 2025/26.

In addition, if the negative hole in the balance exceeds 60 million euros, then the expulsion from UEFA competitions could be extended until 2026/27.
