Exclusive: Fabrizio Romano comments on Liverpool transfer links with star player from PL rivals

Fabrizio Romano has given an exclusive update on Mason Mount’s future at Chelsea amid transfer rumors linking him as a possible target for Liverpool.

The England international hasn’t been in his prime for Chelsea for a while now, but he’s surely a player the Blues would like to keep after an excellent run at Stamford Bridge after rising through their academy.

A surprise report from The Guardian has claimed that Liverpool are interested in Mount, who has yet to sign a new contract with Chelsea, though Romano insists the Reds’ priority targets remain Borussia Dortmund midfielder Jude Bellingham. and Wolves midfielder Matheus Nunes.

Still, he suggested it might be worth waiting and seeing what happens with Mount’s situation at Chelsea.

“On the Mason Mount rumours, at the moment I have been told that Liverpool’s top priority remains Jude Bellingham and they are also following Matheus Nunes,” Romano told the Daily Briefing, his exclusive CaughtOffside column.

“Let’s see what’s going to happen with Mount, at this point his new contract situation needs to be clarified as talks with Chelsea have been ongoing for months.”

Surely Mount could be a good signing for Liverpool, with Jurgen Klopp perhaps the ideal manager to get the 24-year-old back to his best after a difficult spell.

There is clearly a lot of potential there, but Mount might not be benefiting from what has been quite a turbulent time at Stamford Bridge in the last year or so.
