Jesse Lingard opens up regarding his time at Manchester United – Man United News And Transfer News

Former Manchester United striker Jesse Lingard has spoken about his time at the club.

In an interview with Steve Bartlett, the 30-year-old opened up about his acrimonious departure from United and what went wrong in recent months.

He revealed that United blocked his loan to Newcastle United.

“They let a couple of players go on loan in January, but when it occurred to me, John Murtough called me and said, ‘No, you’re not going on loan. [To Newcastle].”

So, they stopped the loan, I was angry, and when he said, “Did you want days off?” I texted him and said, “I’m taking two days off now, just because you said that.”

Lingard was asked about his time at United and the difficulty of competing with the top clubs in the Premier League.

“It was difficult to win the league with City being so dominant… even to win the Europa League, the Carabao Cup, the community crest… we were winning trophies. After Mourinho left, the trophies stopped.”

He then criticized United’s outdated facilities which Cristiano Ronaldo also pointed out.

“I feel like United are still behind on everything. You see the City facilities, the Tottenham facilities… people are miles away. Even the social side of things.”

“You see the City facilities and you catch up, you catch up a bit. Like you’re way behind right now. There is no game room anymore. You go in, you train and you go home.”

Lingard spoke about how José Mourinho was instrumental in his selection for the World Cup in 2018.

“José Mourinho was the best coach in the world. He just wants to win. I had the management of that man too and he trusted me. I went to the World Cup thanks to him, I had one of my best seasons.”

Mourinho was a fan of Lingard and often played with him in big games.
