Manchester United set to battle Tottenham and Chelsea for Brentford’s David Raya – Man United News And Transfer News

Manchester United are interested in Brentford goalkeeper David Raya.

United’s interest in Raya comes amid questions over David de Gea’s suitability for an Erik ten Hag system.

While De Gea has shown improvement in recent games, there are still limitations to his game, hence United’s search for another goalkeeper.

De Gea is currently in negotiations with the Red Devils over a new deal to extend his stay at Old Trafford beyond this season.

However, United’s number one will see significantly reduced wages.

The Telegraph reports that to land Raya, United will need to outplay their Premier League competitors with the 27-year-old.

Chelsea and Tottenham also maintain interest in the Brentford man.

“Chelsea and Manchester United are interested in David Raya and are set to rival Tottenham Hotspur in the battle for the Brentford goalkeeper this summer, Telegraph Sport has learned.”

“Spurs are closely watching the 27-year-old as they prepare to sign a long-term successor to club captain Hugo Lloris.”

“However, Raya also has fans at Stamford Bridge and Old Trafford, and the Spain international could be at the center of a tug-of-war between three of England’s biggest clubs.”

Raya only has eighteen months left on his contract at Brentford Community Stadium.

There is high expectation within Brentford that he will leave at the end of the season. The London club does not want to lose him for free next season. According to The Telegraph, it is expected to cost between £15 million and £20 million.

Raya especially excels in distribution and plays with his feet, aspects of a goalkeeper that Ten Hag likes a lot. During the last campaign, Jurgen Klopp commented that Raya should have a number 10 on his back because of his exceptional kicks and passes.
