Manchester United have reportedly reached an agreement to sign striker Wout Weghorst from Burnley. The Dutch forward will be a Red Devils player for the remainder of the season.
Wout Weghorst joined Burnley from VfL Wolfsburg during the January 2022 transfer window. However, he struggled to make his mark at Turf Moor. The Dutch international has scored just two goals in 20 Premier League games.
He moved to Besiktas on a season-long loan deal at the start of the current season. Wout Weghorst revived his career since he moved to the Turkish Super League. The 30-year-old striker has scored eight goals in 16 league appearances for the Eagles.
Manchester United to complete the transfer of Wout Weghorst
According to Fabrizio Romano, Manchester United have reached an agreement with Burnley and Besiktas to sign Wout Weghorst. The Red Devils will pay £3 million to Besiktas in composition to bring him on loan to Old Trafford for the rest of the season.

Wout Weghorst will fly to Manchester today for medical tests and to sign his contract. The Turkish club are looking to sign Al Nassr striker Vincent Aboubakar to replace Weghorst at the club.
Manchester United are currently in the transfer market for a new striker to replace Cristiano Ronaldo. The Portuguese international’s contract was terminated by the Red Devils in November.
Randal Kolo Muani and Goncalo Ramos are other strikers who have been linked with a move to Old Trafford in recent months. Erik ten Hag is expected to keep busy during the January transfer window.
Steve Stone warns Manchester United about Wout Weghorst’s weakness
Wout Weghorst’s former manager Steve Stone has warned Manchester United about Wout Weghorst’s weakness. Speaking to the media, he said: “Technically, he’s actually very, very good for someone who’s 6-foot-6.”
“What I would say is that he was not fast behind. So when you’re trying to spin balls down the channel, it wasn’t his strength, but on the other hand, he brings other players into the game and that’s why he could be considered for Manchester United.”

When will Manchester United play next time?
Manchester United currently sit fourth in the Premier League table, nine points behind leaders Arsenal. They will then face cross-town rivals Manchester City in a league match at Old Trafford on January 14. Wout Weghorst is unlikely to complete the transfer for him in time to take part in the game.
