Joao Felix Extends Contract With Atletico Madrid Until 2027

Joao Félix has extended his contract with Atlético de Madrid until 2027 before his loan to Chelsea of ​​the Premier League until the end of the 22/23 season.

Chelsea have confirmed the signing of Joao Félix on loan from Atlético de Madrid for the remainder of the 22/23 season. Before sealing his transfer on loan from the Stamford Bridge team, Félix extended his contract with Atlético de Madrid until 2027.

Joao Félix already had a contract until 2026 with Atlético de Madrid. The new deal sees the Portuguese superstar extend his contract with the La Liga outfit for another season.

Joao Félix was heavily linked with a move away from Atlético Madrid in the January transfer window after its chief executive, Miguel Ángel Gil Marín, admitted in December last year that they could part ways with the Portuguese international.

Several clubs were linked to Joao Félix’s move, including Arsenal and Manchester United. However, it was Chelsea who reached an agreement with Atlético Madrid to sign Félix on loan until the end of the season.

Chelsea have reportedly agreed to pay a loan fee in the region of €11m to Atlético Madrid to sign Joao Félix. The Stamford Bridge team will also cover 100% of Felix’s salary during the loan period.

Speaking to Chelsea’s official website after his loan to the Premier League side, Joao Félix said: “Chelsea are one of the great teams in the world and I look forward to helping the team achieve their goals, so I am very, very happy. to be here and very excited to play Stamford Bridge.”

Joao Félix has played 20 games with Atlético de Madrid in the 22/23 season. In addition, he has scored five goals and added three assists with the Madrid team.

Félix has been playing for Atlético Madrid since they signed him from Benfica in 2019. Atlético Madrid made him their most expensive signing when they landed the young Portuguese from Benfica.

Since signing for Atlético Madrid, Félix has made 131 appearances for the La Liga giants and has scored 34 goals in all competitions.
