Diogo Dalot Confirms Man Utd Contract Renewal Talks

Manchester United right-back Diogo Dalot has confirmed that he is in talks with the Old Trafford outfit over a new contract.

Diogo Dalot’s current contract with Manchester United was due to expire at the end of June 2023. But the Red Devils recently activated a one-year extension option on his contract, meaning his current contract with the Old Trafford outfit is extended. until 2024.

Diogo Dalot has established himself as a regular starter at Manchester United under Erik ten Hag, and the Red Devils are hoping to reach an agreement with the Portuguese international for a new long-term contract.

Dalot has been impressive for Manchester United in the 22/23 season and has effectively become Erik ten Hag’s first choice at right-back, ahead of Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

Speaking to The United Stand YouTube channel, Diogo Dalot confirmed that he is in talks with Manchester United about a new contract and admitted that he is happy at the Old Trafford team.

“We are in a position to say that we are negotiating [my contract] and how both parties will benefit, but it’s no secret that I’m happy to be here. I love this club, I love playing for this club, so we’ll see how things go,” said Diogo Dalot.

“Progressively we are going in a good direction as a team, for me, this is the most important part and I hope that individually I can continue helping the team as I am doing.”

Diogo Dalot has appeared in 22 games in all competitions for Manchester United in the 22/23 season. Of those appearances, 14 have been in the Premier League. He has only missed three games for Manchester United in the Premier League this season, one through suspension and the other two through injury.

Diogo Dalot has also featured in all six games the Red Devils have played so far in the 22/23 Europa League campaign.

Meanwhile, Manchester United currently sit fourth in the Premier League points table, behind only Arsenal, Manchester City and Newcastle United. They are nine points behind leaders Arsenal and four behind second-place defending champions Manchester City.

Manchester United and Newcastle United are level on points, but the latter has the better goal difference. However, Newcastle United have played one more game than Man Utd in the English top flight in the 22/23 season.
