Wout Weghorst Confident of Completing Move to Man Utd

Dutch international Wout Weghorst, who currently plays for Turkish club Besiktas on loan from Premier League club Burnley, is confident of securing a loan transfer to Manchester United in the January transfer window, according to a report in the Manchester Evening News.

Wout Weghorst has become a transfer target for Manchester United as they look to bolster their attacking department. The Red Devils have few attacking options after the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo in November last year.

Manchester United and Cristiano Ronaldo parted ways in November when they terminated their contract with the club by mutual consent.

The Old Trafford side have been linked with moves by various attackers in the January transfer window. Among those linked with a move to Man Utd was Cody Gakpo, who has since joined Liverpool.

The Manchester Evening News also reports that Erik ten Hag has appointed Wout Weghorst as short-term support striker for Anthony Martial. They also add that Erik ten Hag has been impressed by Weghorst’s goal stats for Besiktas.

Meanwhile, Manchester United have been largely impressive since Erik ten Hag took charge of the club. After losing their first Premier League games of the season, the Red Devils have only lost two of the 15 games they have played since then in the English top flight.

The Old Trafford team is fourth in the Premier League points table with 35 points from 17 games. They are also level on points with Newcastle United, who are third with 18 games played.

Manchester United are also just four points behind Manchester City, who sit second in the Premier League points table. They are nine points behind Arsenal, leaders of the table. The Gunners have 44 points from 17 games in the English top flight so far this 22/23 season.
