Liverpool interested in move for ex-Manchester United goalkeeper

Liverpool are believed to be interested in a move for German goalkeeper Ron-Robert Zieler, according to BILD (via The Boot Room).

The Hannover 96 goalkeeper has no contract in the Bundesliga 2 squad in the summer and the club has yet to offer him a new contract.

Although the Reds currently have arguably the best goalkeeper in the world in Alisson Becker as a first choice and Caoimhin Kelleher as a quality backup, Jurgen Klopp is reported to want to add to their options with Adrian out of contract at the end of the season. .

Reports suggest the German outfit may extend Zieler’s contract for another year if he plays 25 times for the club this season and they look set to do so after playing 17 times.

The 33-year-old actually progressed through Manchester United’s youth ranks, but never made a senior appearance for the Old Trafford side.

He spent time on loan at Northampton Town while at the Red Devils and also played for Leicester City early in his career.

The German international would bring a lot of experience to Klopp’s team and although his playing time would likely be limited on Merseyside, the opportunity to play our German tactician may appeal to the goalkeeper.
