“You can trust that story”

Liverpool supporters were shocked to see the apparent retaliation for our interest Matheus Nunes, as the Portuguese star only made it to the Premier League last summer, but is now apparently set to make a move again soon.

This story first came from John Percy and Sam Wallace in the Telegraph, where they reported: “Wolves spent around £38m on the Brazilian-born Nunes last summer, after months of Liverpool being linked with him.” . Liverpool are understood to have committed to bid for him subsequently and that deal is still very much alive this month. If it goes through, Nunes would probably move to Liverpool at the end of this season. Although he has gotten off to a slow start in English soccer, the deal is likely to be around 50 million euros (44 million pounds).

GOAL journalist Neil Jones spoke on Redmen TV PLUS on his Journo Insight to respond to the above story, saying: “That’s a live story, the two of them putting their names on it, you can trust that story.”

So it looks like we could be ready to push for a move in the summer and we could have the man who was clearly on our transfer target list just a few months ago.

We know that Jurgen Klopp is often willing to wait and get his ideal option through the Anfield front door, but allowing the 24-year-old to move to a different club first is something unfamiliar even to him.

With Wolves struggling in the league this season and their apparent acceptance of players passing through their club to bigger and better things, they’ll be happy to turn a small profit and look for a new option.

It is questioned why the Reds could not shell out the £38m the Midlands club spent to land the Sporting Lisbon midfielder four months ago, but can now spend £44m a year later.

However, with three reputable sources backing this deal, perhaps we should start to think that the Brazil-born Portuguese international is destined for a move to Merseyside.
