Ex-PL striker admits he ‘feels sorry’ for 23-year-old Liverpool star

Darren Bent has explained that he feels sorry for Darwin Núñez and believes that he will ‘change’ for the Uruguayan international sooner rather than later.

The 23-year-old was signed by Benfica for an initial £64m in the summer and although he has nine goals and three assists in 22 appearances for the Reds (in all competitions), he has yet to score for the club since his return. of Action after the World Cup.

He has missed a number of great chances in recent games, but the former Sunderland and Aston Villa striker believes he will soon be firing on all cylinders.

Speaking on TalkSPORT (via the Liverpool Echo), Bent said: “You know who I feel sorry for, Liverpool? I don’t know if it’s the strikers’ union, but Darwin Núñez. This guy will do everything right until he gets to the last bit.

“He scored a good goal, which was offside [against Brentford]but it’s a good finish. But he only gets chances and almost seems to get caught in the middle. He circles the goalie and manages to hit the only place where there is a defender on the line. For someone whose movement is so good, who is so fast, it will spin for him.”

The performances of our No. 27 have been truly impressive apart from its final product.

After signing for such a high fee, we understand that the former Almería striker will always be judged by the number of goals he scores, but we believe he needs time.

You have to remember that you have arrived in a new league to a team with a different style of play than you were used to in Portugal all while learning to speak English.

His movement is excellent and he makes things happen every time he receives the ball, it’s just his finishing that has let him down at times.

Rival fans find her funny way right now, but we can’t wait until she silences her doubters and finds the back of the net on a regular basis.
