Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea has explained why his manager Erik ten Hag was angry despite their Premier League win over Bournemouth.

The Red Devils faced Bournemouth at Old Trafford in a Premier League game in their opening game of 2023 and posted a 3-0 win over their opponents to win all three points.

Against Bournemouth, Manchester United took the lead through Casemiro in the 23rd minute of the game before Luke Shaw doubled their lead in the 49th minute. Marcus Rashford sealed Man Utd’s victory with an 86th winning goal.

Despite the win, Erik ten Hag was angry with the Old Trafford side’s performance in the match and goalkeeper David de Gea has explained why.

Speaking to the Manchester Evening News after their win over Bournemouth, Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea said Erik ten Hag was angry that the team conceded too many chances.

“I was happy with the clean sheet, but at the same time I was a bit angry,” said David de Gea. “Because we gave up too many chances and we were too wide at the end of the game, so I was a bit angry.

“He [Ten Hag] He’s doing fine. I said it before, it puts all the players in the same direction and we feel like a proper team. Everyone wants to win, everyone wants to play for this club and that’s huge.

Manchester United are two points ahead of Tottenham Hotspur, who are in fifth position. The Red Devils and Newcastle United, who sit third in the table, are level on points but the latter have a better goal difference.

Defending Premier League champions Manchester City, who sit second in the points table, have 36 points, one point more than Man Utd have played a game less than the Red Devils.
