Napoli leading Barcelona for Chelsea star Jorginho

Barcelona face stiff competition from Serie A club Napoli to sign Chelsea midfielder Jorginho. The Italian international is one of the most talented midfielders in the Premier League.

He joined Chelsea from Napoli in the summer window of 2018. The 31-year-old midfielder has made 209 appearances (in all competitions) for the Blues so far, registering 29 goals and nine assists.

Jorginho helped the London outfit win a UEFA Champions League trophy and a Europa League trophy. He won the UEFA Player of the Year award in 2020-21 and was also named to the FIFA FIFPro World XI in 2021.

However, he is in the final year of his current contract at Stamford Bridge. Talks on a new deal have yet to reach an agreement. He could leave the Blues with a Bosman deal at the end of the current season.

In a recent interview with talkSPORT, Jorginho has expressed his desire to extend his stay at Stamford Bridge. He said: “Of course I do, I love Chelsea. But this is something I’m not going to think about right now.

“I need to think about winning games. Otherwise, it’s a problem. I will focus game by game and then we will see what will happen. But my mind is now on Chelsea and trying to win as many games as possible.”

Chelsea are currently working to sign midfielder Enzo Fernandez from Benfica this window. His arrival will significantly affect Joringho’s playing time at Stamford Bridge.
