Antonio Conte has told Tottenham to get him €45m star from Portugal

Tottenham Hotspur will be on the market throughout January in order to strengthen their squad to further their goals for the second half of the season with manager Antonio Conte telling the London club to get him some star.

Spurs have struggled of late and their recent form has seen them crash out of the top four with Conte showing his frustration on a number of occasions, especially after the loss to Aston Villa.

The Italian coach wants to invest in the club and has told the Tottenham board to hire Pedro Porro, from Sporting Lisbon, to add more quality to his team’s right-back, reports AS.

Full-backs are key to Conte’s system and Porro has proven to be a real talent in Portugal this season, scoring twice and providing a further 10 assists in 21 games.

However, the report states that a major hurdle in any potential deal is Sporting’s asking price with the Portuguese club, requiring any interested party to pay the 23-year-old’s €45m release clause.

Tottenham have no intention of paying this figure and will try to negotiate a lower fee for the Spanish star.

There’s a long way to go in any deal for Porro, but it’s clear the right-back is a player Conte is a fan of.
