Manchester United target Yann Sommer is not for sale insists Daniel Farke – Man United News And Transfer News

Manchester United will have to work hard to land transfer target Yann Sommer, and his manager insists he is not for sale.

The Borussia Mönchengladbach goalkeeper has been on United’s radar for some time, and it looks like the club is set to step up its search for the goalkeeper.

But in an interview with 90min.com, the manager of his club stated that his number one stays.

Daniel Farke, the former Norwich manager, has led the German team to some impressive results since taking over in the summer, and Sommer has been at the heart of the team.

The Swiss international will finish his contract in six months and has been at the center of transfer speculation in recent days.

Bundesliga side Bayern Munich have also expressed interest in the 34-year-old, as their first-choice goalkeeper Manuel Neuer suffered a broken leg on a post-World Cup vacation.

And with United’s recent second choice Martin Dubravka being recalled from his loan at Old Trafford by parent team Newcastle, Erik ten Hag is interested in bringing Sommer to the club.

Farke has dismissed any suggestion that the goalkeeper could leave, saying instead that his future lies with Mönchengladbach and that they intend to rectify ongoing contractual doubts.

“I am totally relaxed because there are always discussions about good players. He is one of the best goalkeepers in Europe. He has a contract until the summer and we have no intention of letting him go, ”Farke insisted.

“Why should we let such a goalkeeper go? There would have to be very, very good reasons for wanting to let go of such a quality player. On the contrary, we want to extend the contract with Yann. There will be talks soon,” added the 46-year-old coach.

“We have one of the best goalkeepers in Europe under contract and we have ambitions. For that we need Yann Sommer. Why would we let it go? There is no reason for that at all”, alluding to the fact that Sommer is, in fact, one of the most highly rated European goalkeepers at the moment.

Ten Hag is believed to be confident in his options for now, with plans to offer the Swiss international a pre-contract deal before signing for free in the summer, preferable to a January trade.

And despite the protests of her coaches, having two of Europe’s elite clubs as suitors will no doubt make Sommer consider her future.
