Giocondo Martorelli urges Serie A clubs to rely more on scouts because of poor finances

Italian clubs lag behind their Premier League rivals in terms of money to spend on the transfer market.

Juventus have been one of the biggest spenders in Serie A over the years, but even they need help to compete against English clubs.

This has made them consider grooming the youngsters as they have for much of this season. Transfer market operator Giocondo Martorelli has now urged them and other Italian clubs to pay more attention to scouting.

He said via Tuttomercatoweb:

“It is clear that the clubs are not doing very well from an economic point of view, so there will be no sensational operations. In Italy it is not like in England, where the economic availability is decidedly more extensive and the clubs can make offers that here they can only dream of. Here we have to start trusting scouting again”.

We have some of the best young talent on our books now, thanks to a very good network of scouting and spotting them.

However, Martorelli is not wrong. We need to further strengthen our scouting network because the best talent is always available to be identified.

Since we can’t spend that much money to buy players, we’ll do well to find talent and turn them into world-class stars.
