Manchester United attacker Marcus Rashford has revealed why manager Erik ten Hag left him out of the starting lineup in their 1-0 win over Wolves in the English Premier League.
Marcus Rashford started the game on the bench when Erik ten Hag confirmed that the decision to remove him from the starting XI was a disciplinary one. However, Marcus Rashford would come off the bench in the second half to score Man Utd’s winner against Wolves as they ended the year with a win.
Erik ten Hag introduced Marcus Rashford early in the second half and the England international would score the only goal of the game in the 76th minute.
Marcus Rashford thought he had given Manchester United a two-goal lead eight minutes later. But the VAR annulled the goal when verifying that he had touched the ball inside the area.

Speaking after the match, Marcus Rashford explained why he was left out of the starting eleven by Erik ten Hag. The England international revealed that he was late for a team meeting after falling asleep.
“It’s the team rules and it’s a mistake that can happen,” Rashford told BT Sport after the match. “I’m disappointed not to play, but I understand the decision and I’m happy we managed to win the game anyway. Hopefully we can draw a line below that and move on.”
When asked for an explanation, Marcus Rashford said: “I was a little late for a meeting. I fell asleep, I fell asleep. You can pass.”
Meanwhile, Manchester United moved up to fourth in the Premier League points table with the win over Wolves. The Red Devils have 32 points from 16 games in the English top flight so far this season.
Man Utd are 11 points behind Arsenal, who have 43 points from 13 games. And they are four points behind defending champions Manchester City, who sit in second place.
The Red Devils are just two points behind Newcastle United, who sit in third place after having played one more game than Manchester United.
Erik ten Hag and company. will face Bournemouth in the Premier League in their first game of 2023, and the Old Trafford side will try to make it four straight wins in the English top flight.
