Leeds looking to complete £14million signing by next week

Leeds United are looking to finalize the signing of Red Bull Salzburg defender Max Wober in the coming days.

According to a report in the Daily Mail, the Premier League outfit are in talks with the Austrian club over a £14 million transfer and they hope to complete the deal early next week.

The 24-year-old defender is naturally a central defender, but has the versatility to also operate as a full-back. He could prove a useful addition to Jesse Marsch’s team.

Leeds will need to improve their squad during the January transfer window to get over the slump this season. They are currently 15th in the league table, just two points from the relegation zone.

In addition, they have been lousy behind this season and have conceded 29 goals in just 15 league games. Defense has been a big concern for Marsch and it will be interesting to see if he can strengthen his defensive unit before he closes the January transfer window.

Wober would certainly be a quality acquisition and the player is likely to be excited to join the Premier League club as well.

It would be an important step in his career and he will seek to demonstrate his quality at a higher level.

Wober will feel that if he can impress at Leeds, a move to a bigger club could be secured in the coming seasons.

Meanwhile, the reported £14m deal looks quite reasonable for a player of his skill and the 24-year-old could end up justifying the outlay in the coming months.
