Jamie Carragher says no one can catch Liverpool ace once ‘he gets away from you’

Jamie Carragher was more than impressed with Darwin Núñez’s performance despite the Uruguayan failing to get on the scoreboard yet again.

The former England international was impressed by the striker’s combinations with Mo Salah and his ability to put some distance between himself and his markers on the pitch.

“The pace is absolutely terrifying, he combines so well with Salah,” the former Red told Sky Sports (via HITC). “His pacing of him on two or three occasions has been absolutely terrifying, and if he gets away from you, you’re not going to hold him back.”

The Merseysiders finished their last Premier League meeting winning 2-1, notably without scoring a single goal on the night, thanks to Wout Faes’ nightmarish performance for Leicester, to reduce the deficit between them and the top four to two points. .

The main frustration will be our No.27’s lack of goals since his return to full competitive action, although it is difficult, not to mention grossly unfair, to criticize the quality of his performances since the end of the World Cup.

The mere presence of Núñez is enough to sow discord and chaos among the enemy ranks, creating chances for his teammates and for himself.

Although many will be quick to point the finger at our £64m signing, it must be emphasized that Mo Salah was also at fault for not burying the scoring chances created by our 6’2″ hitman.

Make no mistake, though: the goals will eventually come more consistently and probably in such abundance that it will leave some critics wondering how they could have gotten the former Penarol star so wrong.
