Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone speaks on the future of João Félix – Man United News And Transfer News

The Atlético de Madrid coach, Diego Simeone, has ruled on the future of João Félix after his team’s victory in LaLiga last night.

As reported in the Spanish media AS, Simeone reiterated that he will do what is best for Atleti, but did not close the door on the striker’s departure.

A point-blank header from Félix opened the draw for Simeone’s men last night, in what was a hard-fought 2-0 win against the modest Elche.

Speaking to the press after the match, Simeone admitted he was not sure what the future holds for the 23-year-old.

“Joao Felix? I seek to get the best for the club, after what has to happen happens, ”he said.

Simeone is believed to be happy to let Felix go in January, having gone for Álvaro Morata for the majority of his team’s season of games.

This has left Felix with no playing time and he is now reportedly open to a move away from Madrid, in a bid to fulfill his undoubted potential.

Erik ten Hag and Manchester United are big fans and favorites to get the Portuguese striker, should he move.

If the move to Old Trafford does come to fruition in January, it seems almost certain that it will be a loan deal with a permanent transfer to be discussed at the end of the season.

United are reportedly in talks over the loan fee, with Atlético seeking €22m, as well as full payment of the players’ salaries.

Given the Glazer family’s desire to sanction the sale of the club in the coming months, this type of financial deal seems the most likely route for Ten Hag to get the reinforcements he desperately needs.

If United manage to negotiate the fee, Felix would provide Ten Hag with an exciting option in their fluid front line and could make the difference between qualifying for the Champions League next season or not.
