He is brilliant in the passing game and uses it to his advantage to clear crosses and set pieces.
Varane has become indispensable to United’s defense and is vital to the way Ten Hag wants to play.
United tend to get caught up on the counter, and Varane is always there to sweep away any danger.
He is a leader in the rear and commands the defense.
Ten Hag will expect more of the same from Varane.
If he can improve his fitness, United will have an established back line for the first time in a long time.
