Klopp without seven players as Liverpool welcome Leicester

Liverpool will be without seven players when we host Leicester City in the return to Premier League action at Anfield and Jurgen Klopp provided a fitness update in his pre-match press conference.

The 55-year-old said: “There are no new injury problems after the [Villa] game, not that much would go back for the [Leicester] game apart from Ibou.

“Now he is training with us, now he will also be available. So, positive for this moment, but we know that it will be a difficult game”.

The club’s website went on to confirm that: ‘Jürgen Klopp has no new fitness issues to deal with, but it looks like he will be back without Roberto Firmino, Curtis Jones and James Milner, who all missed the 3-1 win. 1 at Aston Villa on Boxing Day. through a wound…

‘Cody Gakpo’s debut will come in the New Year, with the Dutch striker to officially become a Liverpool player at the start of the January transfer window, while Luis Diaz, Diogo Jota and Arthur Melo are all long-term absentees.’

That means we won’t have Roberto Firmino, Curtis Jones, James Milner, Cody Gakpo, Luis Diaz, Diogo Jota and Arthur Melo for Brendan Rodgers’ return.

Let’s hope this becomes a list that gets smaller with each passing game because the buildup of January games is going to be pretty intense, regardless of any injury concerns we add on top of them.
