Man United the “main candidate” that is “best placed” to sign Joao Felix in January – Man United News And Transfer News

Manchester United are in pole position to sign Atlético Madrid striker Joao Félix.

The breakdown of the relationship between Félix and Diego Simeone is an open secret. Simeone himself alluded to this in some comments he made, in which he said that no player is untouchable.

Felix has been linked to various clubs in England.

Together with United, Chelsea and Arsenal are also in the race for the signing of the Portuguese in their eagerness to incorporate reinforcements in attack.

A report earlier this month indicated that Felix’s preferred destination is Old Trafford, where he would arrive as the successor to Cristiano Ronaldo.

United’s need for an attack-minded striker was made desperate by the acrimonious departure of Cristiano Ronaldo from the club. The situation has been exacerbated by Liverpool’s hijacking of Cody Gakpo’s deal.

Gakpo was Erik ten Hag’s number one target to replace Ronaldo, but he has now been officially confirmed as a Liverpool player.

Much to the relief of the united fans, Marca via SportWitness reports that the Red Devils are the best-placed club to sign Félix, with his departure from the Wanda Metropolitano all but assured.

“Manchester United is named by Marca, who explains that it is the ‘best placed’ team to get Félix’s signature in January,” reports the outlet.

“First, however, Erik ten Hag’s team must make a proposal that can convince Atlético to sanction the player’s movement in the next window.”

“The Madrid club wants to solve this case as soon as possible, but so far it has not received any proposal, and Atlético has not hesitated to point out that Félix will not leave if he does not receive a satisfactory offer.”

A report surfaced yesterday that while United are fans of Felix, club bosses may be unwilling to agree to a costly loan deal with a total package of €22m.
