Rodgers confirms that Leicester are without up to six players

Brendan Rodgers returns to Anfield with Leicester City but faces a similar level of fitness issues to his successor at Liverpool, with both men facing a selection headache for the game.

Speaking to the media before the game, the Northern Irishman provided an update on James Madison: “He will not be available for the game. was with frames [Waller]our doctor, gets some special advice in London today, so I’ll wait to hear from them later.

“He has not trained with the squad. He was clearly receiving treatment [in Qatar] and he and the medical team deemed him fit to train. He was available for games (for England). He came back here, looked to do some work, and then he felt a pain in another part of his knee.

“The medical team has evaluated it. He tried to go out and do multi-directional work and it was bothering him. The medical team and the Club have gone down to London to get his opinion and see where he stands. That’s where we’re at right now.”

Then came an update on Dennis Praet: “He won’t be available either. He’s still sore and struggling with his side, so we’ll see where he is.”

Our official club website also reported: “Rodgers reported ‘no more’ new fitness concerns when he spoke to the media for a contest preview on Wednesday, although Ryan Bertrand, Jonny Evans, James Justin and Ricardo Pereira are out.”

With his team sitting in 13th place, our former manager has managed to move away from the relegation scrap they were in a few games ago, but these fitness concerns will hamper the prospect of further progression in the league.

Jurgen Klopp, despite his own health issues, hopes we can capitalize on the Foxes’ misfortune and record a much-needed victory in our return to home Premier League action.
