Brazilian soccer legend Pele has passed away at the age of 82 after a recent battle with illness.
The former Santos and Brazil striker was widely considered the greatest footballer of all time, winning the World Cup three times during his career, most notably as part of that iconic Brazil team in 1970.

Pelé was named FIFA Player of the Century in 2000, and the debate over the greatest soccer players of all time has often come down to him or former Argentine star Diego Maradona, who died just over two years ago.
