Dumfries latest following James injury

Chelsea have decided to explore the right-back market following Reece James’ latest injury.

The England international has been a key player for the Blues but is enduring a frustrating season with his fitness as he suffered another setback despite having just returned from his first injury break which saw him miss the recent Cup of the World in Qatar.

It won’t be easy for Chelsea to replace James, but Fabrizio Romano has exclusively revealed to CaughtOffside that the west London giants are now exploring the right-back market before January.

For now, it appears Chelsea haven’t made a concrete approach to Inter Milan’s Denzel Dumfries, but it appears the Dutch international has been on the club’s radar for some time, according to Romano.

Denzel Dumfries has long been admired by Chelsea

“Chelsea will explore the market for right-backs, but so far there is nothing advanced,” Romano said.

“Chelsea’s current focus is on Benoit Badiashile’s deal with AS Monaco. Denzel Dumfries was already on the list in the summer, but so far Inter have not received any new approach from Chelsea.

Dumfries looks ideal for Chelsea’s needs at the moment, but other options may also be under consideration.

It looks like CFC fans will have to wait a bit longer to see who could step in at right-back, but their supporters will at least be reassured by plans to replace the injured James.
