Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has praised Casemiro, calling the Brazil international the perfect number six for the Old Trafford squad.
Manchester United signed Casemiro in the 2022 summer transfer window as the Red Devils beefed up their midfield department. Casemiro left Real Madrid to join Manchester United and has been largely impressive for the Premier League side.
He put in an impressive performance for Manchester United when the Red Devils hosted Nottingham Forest in their first Premier League game after the winter break. Casemiro was sensational for Manchester United in their 3-0 win over Nottingham Forest.
Marcus Rashford put Manchester United ahead in the 19th minute of the game. Anthony Martial made it 2-0 in minute 23, finishing off a counterattack. Fred then sealed Man Utd’s victory with an 87th-minute goal, when the Brazilian put the ball into the net after receiving a pass from his compatriot Casemiro.

“We have the perfect one” – Erik ten Hag praises Casemiro
Speaking after the match, Erik ten Hag praised Casemiro, who was impressive for the Old Trafford side. The Manchester United manager said they needed a number 6 and, in Casemiro, they now have the perfect one.
“We needed a number 6,” Erik ten Hag said in his post-match interview with club media. “It’s one of the decisions we made in our analysis before the season.
“We have the perfect one, we are happy with him. He has shown a lot of leadership and soccer skills.
“He is keeping the team together and he is also very important in our ball game. Winning the ball and giving it to the right player, like he did with the third goal.”
Since joining Manchester United in the summer, Casemiro has made 20 appearances for the Red Devils. He has also scored one goal and registered two assists in the Premier League this season.
Casemiro’s contract with Manchester United runs until 2026. That means he has more than three years left on his current deal with the Premier League club. There is also the option to extend the contract for another year.
Meanwhile, the win over Nottingham Forest took Man Utd’s Premier League 22/23 tally to 29 points from 15 games.
