Fabrizio Romano provides crucial update on Man United target Jeremiee frimpong – Man United News And Transfer News

Manchester United have suffered another blow in their search for reinforcements for January.

News broke yesterday that Liverpool had surprised the Red Devils with the signing of Erik ten Hag’s number one target, Cody Gakpo.

Liverpool took advantage of United’s hesitancy and moved quickly to secure the signing of Gakpo.

Gakpo will be imminently a Liverpool player after the completion of his medicals at Anfield.

According to Italian journalist and transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, the Red Devils will face another setback before the January transfer window.

United face an uphill task to lure Bayer Leverkusen defender Jeremie Frimpong to Old Trafford during the winter window.

In recent months, Frimpong had become a legitimate target for United in their search for a Diogo Dalot endorsement.

Ten Hag made it clear that Aaron Wan-Bissaka is not in his plans. The Englishman has been linked with a host of Premier League clubs, including West Ham, Crystal Palace and Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Alongside Frimpong, who was part of the Netherlands’ World Cup squad, a recent report also conveyed that United’s board approved a move for Lyon winger Malo Gusto.

Regarding Frimpong, Romano indicates: “Bayer Leverkusen wants to keep Jeremie Frimpong at least until the end of the season unless there is a ‘crazy’ proposal.

“There are no ongoing negotiations as of now.

“Leverkusen expects big offers in the summer as the best clubs follow Frimpong.”

United is unlikely to dish out “crazy” offers for Frimpong in January. The club’s cash problems are an open secret. If we add to this that a striker is the priority and a movement for the Dutchman almost becomes a secondary priority.
