Liverpool target new midfielder in January after Gakpo but not Bellingham

Liverpool supporters were surprised to hear that a deal had been reached to sign Cody Gakpo to join the club in the coming days, but it appears this will not be the final deal of the January transfer window.

As reported by Giannis Chorianopoulos: ‘After the Gakpo deal, Liverpool will advance for a midfielder. The plan is to sign him during this transfer period. Bellingham for the summer’.

There have been some shared concerns that signing the attacker from PSV, while certainly exciting, does not address the main problem in our team at present, which is believed to be in the midfield area.

Having the choice of six powerful strikers will be great, but many still want a new midfield option and if Jude Bellingham can’t make it until the summer, there will be a clamor for a new man in January.

Names like Sofyan Amrabat and Enzo Fernández have already been promoted and with only £38m having been spent up front for the Dutch winger, then it’s fair to assume we have a bit more money in the bank.

Whether these words from the Greek sports journalist ring true, we will have to wait and see, but there will be hope that more experienced reporters can also start sharing this news and further raise hopes for another deal in the next window.
