‘Everything will be fine’ – Klopp confident that Nunez ‘will score goals’ despite failing to net against Aston Villa

Jurgen Klopp has called Darwin Nunez’s performance against Aston Villa ‘incredible’ despite the Liverpool striker failing to find the back of the net at Villa Park.

Goals from Mo Salah and Virgil van Dijk gave the Reds a 2-0 lead at half-time before Ollie Watkins’ header early in the second half gave Unai Emery’s team some hope.

However, teenage midfielder Stefan Bajcetic was introduced during the second half, and the young Spaniard scored his first senior goal for the club to wrap up the three points after some exceptional work from our No. 27 in build-up.

“It was an amazing game that he [Nunez] played,” the German told Amazon Prime (via This Is Anfield).

“And then life is unfair. He will score goals, of that I have no doubt. What it gives us is this depth, each ball you can control once and then play it back.

“That’s really tricky because he has incredible power. Of course, he will score.

“I was in this situation very often with the forwards and everything will be fine. This game was exceptional.”

He may have squandered several chances against Manchester City earlier this week and again today, but his work rate and the havoc he wreaks amongst the opposition defense is something we’re certainly encouraged by.

The former Benfica striker is always on the move and it is clear that he likes to receive the ball from behind; as soon as he fixes his completion, we’ll have a serious player on our hands.

His work in setting up Bajcetic’s goal was excellent – the way he controlled the ball and kept it in play was quality and we certainly believe he is going to score a great number of goals for the club.

He’ll be excited to be back in action on Friday when we welcome Leicester to Anfield; hopefully another three huge points.
