Liverpool sign Cody Gakpo from PSV; ‘record transfer’ for the Dutch side

Liverpool and PSV have reached an agreement for the transfer of Cody Gakpo to Anfield.

The Dutch club confirmed the move recently with a post on their official Twitter account stating that the 23-year-old “will be leaving for England imminently”.

The winger was also attracting a lot of interest from Manchester United, but now it looks like Jurgen Klopp’s side have won the race for his signature.

The German tactician is believed to be desperate to sign a new central midfielder, but the huge potential Gakpo is showing is something Reds fans will be excited about.

As well as impressing for the Netherlands at the World Cup in Qatar, the striker has 13 goals and 17 assists in 24 appearances this term (in all competitions) and will look to continue his impressive form in the Premier League.

The Dutch team have not revealed the price, but have confirmed that it is a ‘record transfer fee’ for them.

GOAL’s Neil Jones recently reported that the initial fee for the Dutchman will be £37m with the possibility of the deal rising to £50m with a number of add-ons.
