In what was a brilliant first half for the neutrals, Liverpool doubled their lead thanks to a goal from another corner and quick thinking from Mo Salah and Virgil van Dijk.
Some really positive and persistent play from Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain saw him find Darwin Núñez, the Uruguayan then brought the ball into the box before testing both the opposing defense and goalkeeper and earning a corner.

Trent Alexander-Arnold delivered the resulting corner kick and the ball slid around the box before finding Mo Salah’s feet, his quick and calm thinking meaning he controlled the ball into the path of Virgil van Dijk.
Our No. 4’s effort deflected en route to the back of the net, something the doubtful goals panel can examine further later, and that was enough to double the Reds’ lead on Boxing Day.
