Kevin de Bruyne Backs Erling Haaland to Score 800 Goals

Manchester City midfielder Kevin de Bruyne has backed his teammate Erling Haaland to score 800 career goals.

Haaland has already established himself as one of the best forwards in the world. He joined Manchester City in the summer 2022 transfer window and instantly started working at his new club.

Erling Haaland has been sensational for Manchester City, averaging more than one goal per game for the defending Premier League champions. The 22-year-old has featured in 19 games in all competitions for Manchester City so far in the 22/23 season.

He has amassed 24 goals in those appearances and has also registered three assists. Of the 24 goals, 18 have come in the Premier League, where he has appeared in 13 games. He has also scored five goals for Manchester City in the 22/23 Champions League campaign.

Kevin de Bruyne has backed Erling Haaland, who he said is so obsessed with goals, to score 800 goals if he stays fit.

“Erling is so obsessed with goals. He already has around 200 goals, so he can probably get to 600, 700 or 800 if he stays fit and does the things he does. Erling is a top notch striker. I don’t see Erling as different from a lot of people. He is a normal football player like everyone else and he doesn’t take himself too seriously,” Kevin de Bruyne said.

Erling Haaland has already scored 179 goals in his club career so far. The Norway international racked up 86 goals in 89 appearances during his time at Borussia Dortmund.

He also scored 29 goals in 27 appearances for RB Salzburg and amassed 20 goals in 50 appearances for Molde. Erling Haaland has also scored twice for Molde 2 and 18 goals for Bryne 2.

Erling Haaland has also scored 21 goals for the Norway national soccer team since his debut in 2019.

Meanwhile, Manchester City currently sit second in the Premier League points table. The defending league champions have 32 points from 14 games in the English top flight so far in the 22/23 season.
