Crystal Palace manager addresses Aaron Wan-Bissaka transfer rumours

Crystal Palace manager Patrick Vieira sounded coy when asked about the possibility of signing Aaron Wan-Bissaka from Manchester United.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka has been linked with a move away from Manchester United in the January transfer window. The 25-year-old has fallen down the Manchester United pecking order following the arrival of Erik ten Hag as manager.

Since Erik ten Hag took over at Manchester United, Diogo Dalot has established himself as the manager’s first-choice right-back. Aaron Wan-Bissaka has appeared in just two games for Manchester United in the 22/23 season.

The first of those two appearances was a cameo from the bench in Manchester United’s 2-1 win over Liverpool in the Premier League. The second appearance came earlier this week when Manchester United faced Burnley in the EFL Cup round of 16. Erik ten Hag handed the starting job to Aaron Wan-Bissaka in the absence of Diogo Dalot, who had an injury problem.

Clubs linked to Aaron Wan-Bissaka’s move include Crystal Palace, Wolves and West Ham United. Crystal Palace are reportedly interested in re-signing Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka, who graduated from Crystal Palace academy, made 46 appearances for the Eagles during his time at the club. He joined Manchester United in the summer of 2019 and has been playing for the Red Devils ever since.

When asked about the possibility of re-signing with Wan-Bissaka, Patrick Vieira was coy and did not reveal anything.

“Listen, he’s a Man Utd player. We have to respect that and there is nothing more to say about it. He is a good player, of that there is no doubt. He is related to this football club and I think he has been loved by the fans. But then again, he is a United player,” said Patrick Vieira.

Meanwhile, Wan-Bissaka has appeared in 128 games for Manchester United in four seasons and in all competitions so far. His current contract with Manchester United expires in 2024. But there is also the option to extend it for another year.
