Brentford renews Thomas Frank contract through 2027

Brentford have announced that manager Thomas Frank has signed a new contract that will keep him at the club until 2027.

The Danish manager had signed on the dotted lines earlier this year in January and agreed a three-year deal, but the club have reaffirmed their stance on Frank with a new deal.

Frank was appointed by the London side in October 2018 and led the club to promotion in the Premier League last season, ending his 74-year long wait to play at the highest levels of English football.

Assistant manager

The 49-year-old replaced Dean Smith and replaced his assistant manager role.

After signing the new contract, Frank gave an exclusive interview with Sky Sports and said that he feels privileged to be a part of the pup and that they can progress a lot more. “I feel very privileged to be able to stay here for a long time.”

Frank continued: “Of course, in football you never know tomorrow; 2027 is just a number, so three days later, maybe I’ll be out of here! No, it is a privilege because it is not certain that they will offer you a new contract at the club where you are working”.

The manager also feels that, despite the recent success, there is unfinished business, “I am very pleased and said earlier this year that I still feel, deep down, that there is a lot of unfinished business here at Brentford, despite We’ve been very successful, all together, in recent years with some fantastic milestones: the new stadium, promotion, attacking the first season in the Premier League and now we’re in a good position in the league so far.

“I work in a place where there is an incredible lineup from top to bottom and everyone is on the same page, everyone wants to attack, everyone wants to be better and that culture and environment inspire me and I’m glad to be a part of that.”

Brentford success

Brentford finished 13th last season and currently sit 10th in the standings. Despite heavy 5-1 and 4-0 defeats to Newcastle United and Aston respectively, the London side beat Manchester City 2-1 at the Etihad just before the World Cup.

The Bees restart their Premier League campaign on Boxing Day when they host Tottenham Hotspur, who sit fourth in the table.
