Video: Lisandro Martinez in triumphant return to his hometown after World Cup success – Man United News And Transfer News

Manchester United defender Lisandro Martinez has made a triumphant return to his hometown of Gualeguay, where he was greeted like a hero.

Martinez, a World Cup winner, could not contain his joy as he celebrated with people from his hometown who turned out in their thousands to catch a glimpse of the United man.

Martínez was shown for the first time a video of his contributions to the World Cup culminating in the Albiceleste’s final showdown against France that went to penalties.

The United man took the floor and expressed his joy at the honor of being World Champion.

The 24-year-old said: “I am very excited, seeing the children is a huge happiness for me. Where I started, in Urquiza, in Libertad, here I lived for football, from which I take many memories and it was incredible”.

“Besides the wonderful people too. I am very happy to be able to come here to close the parties at my house. I am very happy to be with my people, coming here for me is the best”.

“It was a great emotion and pride to be there. It was my first World Cup, but I was also very focused from the beginning, with the aim of being champion”.

Martinez spoke to the crowd about how the team bounced back from their opening loss against Saudi Arabia.

He remarked that they accepted defeat, looked within themselves, came together and finally embarked on a successful campaign.

On what motivated the team, Martínez pointed out the inherent courage and pride that all Argentines possess. He also said that the support of millions of fans around the world gave them an extra push to win soccer’s most coveted trophy. He said that one has to almost give up one’s life to achieve success.

The centre-back said that even players from other teams were amazed by his aggressiveness and desire to win their battles on the pitch.

Martínez will soon be back at Old Trafford, as confirmed by Erik ten Hag during his pre-Nottingham Forest press conference. As he did in his hometown, he will return to United a hero.
