Manchester United are interested in signing Argentine midfielder Enzo Fernández.
The 21-year-old excelled for his country at the World Cup and was a key player as Argentina lifted the coveted trophy.
Fernández has been linked with a move to the Premier League in recent weeks with Liverpool tipped as a possible suitor.
Journalist bruno andrade now reports that Manchester United have joined the race to sign the midfielder from Benfica, and are willing to pay beyond his release clause to get the deal done.
He added that the Red Devils are in talks with Benfica and are currently beating Liverpool in the transfer race.
Fernández has a release clause of 120 million euros in his contract and the Red Devils are determined to get his services.
It will be interesting to see if they can beat bitter rivals Liverpool to their signature in the coming months.
