Riyad Mahrez had put the Sky Blues back on top with an impressive touch and a goal in the first two minutes with the Egyptian reply a minute later.
The number 11 hit close after Darwin Núñez and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain combined brilliantly in the build-up.
