(Video) Phillips stops Haaland in his tracks with perfectly timed challenge

Nat Phillips entered the fray as a first-half substitute at the Etihad after James Milner was injured and it didn’t take long for the Liverpool number 47 to show Erling Haaland that he was up for the challenge.

The Norway international, who initially put the hosts ahead within 10 minutes before Fabio Carvalho’s equalizer, grappled with the Red Academy graduate and ran towards Caomhin Kelleher, it looked like No. 9 City had ‘Bolton Baresi’ exactly where i wanted it when he entered the box, that was before the Bolton-born lad tackled the former Borussia Dortmund man with a perfectly timed challenge.

The 25-year-old may be our fifth-choice central defender, but he’s shown in the past that he’s more than up for the challenge when called upon.

Phillips made a decent substitution for the rest of the game despite Jurgen Klopp’s side going down 3-2.
