Manchester United want La Liga star, Ten Hag has informed player’s camp

Manchester United were heavily linked with a move for Barcelona midfielder Frenkie De Jong during the summer transfer window.

There were rumors that the Red Devils had agreed a fee with the Spanish outfit, but De Jong rejected the move.

It seems that Manchester United have not yet given up on the player. Erik ten Hag remains interested in signing the 25-year-old La Liga star and has already informed the player’s entourage of his interest.

A 90 Min report claims Manchester United hope to sign the player at the end of the season and believes the Dutch international would be open to leaving the Camp Nou once the Catalan giants pay his deferred salary.

Ten Hag has worked with De Jong during his time as Ajax manager and knows everything about the player. The 25-year-old could transform Manchester United’s midfield and the 52-year-old seems to believe the Barcelona star will be worth the wait.

Manchester United need to improve the likes of Scott McTominay and Fred if they are to compete for the biggest trophies and De Jong would be a huge blow. He could form a quality midfield pairing with Casemiro and Bruno Fernandes.

Furthermore, he is used to Ten Hag’s style of play, so he could make an immediate impact at the Premier League club.

It will be interesting to see if Barcelona is prepared to settle the fees in the coming months. The Spanish giants are going through financial problems and taking De Jong out of his wage bill can benefit them.
