Chelsea hire Christopher Vivell as technical director

Chelsea have officially appointed Christopher Vivell as the team’s new technical director. Former goalkeeping legend Petr Cech had previously held the position with the team for three years. However, Cech left Chelsea over the summer after Todd Boehly became the new owner.

“Chelsea are building the most exciting project in world football and I am very proud to join the club,” Vivell said. “There is a lot of potential for the club to continue to be successful, develop and grow.”

“Under the new ownership, Graham Potter and the sports team in general, there is a clear and sustainable philosophy underpinned by performance analysis, data and innovation, and I am looking forward to participating in that.”

Christopher Vivell brings Haaland’s experience to Chelsea

Vivell was previously head of scouting and recruiting at RB Salzburg. He advocated for the signing of Erling Haaland at the Austrian club in 2019. After his time in Austria, Vivell moved to RB Leipzig. The scouting expert was responsible for recruiting at all stages of the German team.

Boehly and co-owner Behdad Eghbali were delighted with the announcement. “We are delighted to have Christopher taking on this important leadership role at the club,” the two said in a group statement.

“His work in Germany and Austria speaks for itself. We are confident that he will continue his impressive run here at Chelsea. He will provide important support to Graham and the ownership group and will play a vital role in advancing our overall vision for the club.”

Nkunku reportedly set to meet Vivell at Chelsea

Vivell arrives with a familiar face approaching Stamford Bridge. Reports indicate that Christopher Nkunku is on his way to Chelsea. Considered one of the best youngsters in Europe, Nkunku worked with Vivell at RB Leipzig. However, Chelsea will likely have to wait for Nkunku to arrive. Nkunku arrives on a summer transfer.

Chelsea restart their current campaign with a visit to Bournemouth on December 27.
