Manchester United have activated the one-year contract extension option for Diogo Dalot, Fred, Luke Shaw and Marcus Rashford. The four aforementioned players were due to be out of contract by the end of June 2023.
Diogo Dalot, Fred, Luke Shaw and Marcus Rashford would have been able to speak to clubs outside of England from next year if Manchester United had not activated the contract extension option.
Man Utd’s decision to activate the contract extension option extends the contract of Diogo Dalot, Fred, Luke Shaw and Marcus Rashford at the club until 2024. The Red Devils, however, have not extended a contract extension option for one year for David de Gea, who will also end his contract at the end of the season.
However, The Athletic reports that Manchester United are in talks with David de Gea over a new contract. Manchester United would like David de Gea, one of the club’s highest-paid players, to accept a contract on lower terms.

Diogo Dalot has effectively become manager Erik ten Hag’s first-choice right-back at Manchester United in the 22/23 season. The Portuguese international has been a fixture in the Manchester United line-up this season.

The 23-year-old has featured in 20 games in all competitions for Manchester United so far in the 22/23 season. Of the 20 appearances, 13 have been in the Premier League, where he has only missed one game this season.
Marcus Rashford has appeared in 19 games for the Red Devils in the 22/23 season. He has already scored 8 goals for Man Utd in the 22/23 season, a higher figure than he achieved in the 21/22 season.
Luke Shaw, meanwhile, has appeared in 15 games for Manchester United so far in the 22/23 season. The England international faces competition from Tyrell Malacia for the left-back spot, but has managed more Premier League playing time than the Dutchman in the 22/23 season.
Meanwhile, Fred has seen his playing time limited by summer arrivals in the midfield department: Christian Eriksen and Casemiro. However, the Brazilian midfielder made 16 appearances for Man Utd in the 22/23 season, seven of them as a starter.
Meanwhile, Manchester United currently sit fifth in the Premier League points table. The Red Devils have 26 points from 14 games in the English top flight.
