Sporting CP manager Ruben Amorim on Cristiano Ronaldo transfer speculations

Sporting CP coach Rubén Amorim has grown tired of the constant questions about a possible move by Cristiano Ronaldo.

Cristiano Ronaldo is currently a free agent after he parted ways with Manchester United in November this year. Manchester United have terminated the Portuguese superstar’s contract by mutual consent following his explosive interview with Piers Morgan.

Cristiano Ronaldo criticized Manchester United and manager Erik ten Hag, among many others, in that explosive interview with Piers Morgan. The Red Devils then decided to interrupt Ronaldo’s stay at the club by mutual agreement.

Cristiano Ronaldo is currently without a club and has been linked with various clubs. Saudi Arabian club Al-Nassr have reportedly made a mammoth contract offer to Ronaldo, though they have recently downplayed such a suggestion. Sporting CP, the club where Ronaldo began his senior professional career, have been asked in recent months to address the possibility of a potential move to bring back the Portuguese icon.

When asked about Cristiano Ronaldo after Sporting CP’s 5-0 win over Braga in the Taca da Liga, manager Ruben Amorim made it clear that he’s tired of answering the question over and over again. He also asked why the media didn’t ask Cristiano Ronaldo the question when he was in Qatar for the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

“Ronaldo was in Qatar, they had the opportunity to ask him and they didn’t. They have asked me 500 times and I have already answered,” said Rubén Amorim. [via GOAL].

Rubén Amorim previously said that everyone at Sporting dreamed of a move to bring Cristiano Ronaldo back, but confessed that they do not have the financial resources to pay the 37-year-old’s salary.

“Everyone at Sporting dreams of Cristiano’s return, but we don’t have the money to pay his salary,” Rubén Amorim said in October.

Meanwhile, Ronaldo and Portugal’s hopes of winning the 2022 FIFA World Cup title ended in the quarterfinals, where Morocco upset and knocked them out of the competition.

Portugal advanced to the round of 16 as the leaders of Group H and sealed their place in the quarterfinals with a stellar 6-1 win over Switzerland. But the European heavyweights fell with a 1-0 loss to Morocco in the round of 16, ending their hopes of lifting the World Cup title for the first time in the country’s history in Qatar 2022.
