Four Carabao Cup games were played tonight, all with a Premier League club.
However, there were no surprises in the cup, as four teams from the top flight advanced to the next stage of the competition; Newcastle United, Southampton, Wolverhampton Wanderers and Leicester City all claimed victories, with Gillingham, Lincoln City, Bournemouth and MK Dons on the losing side.
This week’s matches are the first club matches played since November, and last month was packed with exciting World Cup action. Argentina was crowned champion on Sunday night.

The League Cup action continues tomorrow with the likes of Brighton & Hove Albion, Nottingham Forest and Manchester United all in action.
Manchester City and Liverpool meet on Thursday night in a heavyweight clash. The Merseyside team is the trophy holder and both teams are joint for winning the most Carabao Cups.
